Some people think that graveyards are scary, well don't go at night there could be some very weird stuff in there. Then again some people ask about the tomb of Unknown Soldier, is it haunted or not, maybe nobody really is in the tomb.
The First Baptist Church graveyard was established in the early 1700's. This church was segregated. A Senator from Charleston is buried there. Well over 3,400 bodies were moved or disturbed at this particular church. This church is located at 61 church street in Downtown Charleston. the cemetery is about 40 to 50 feet or maybe even more. There oldest grave recorded is all the way from 1797. Unfortunately this cemetery is not used for burials anymore. Supposedly the cemetery at this church is not haunted but it's campus is very haunted.
st. Mary's Church
The St. Mary's Church graveyard was established in 1789. Nobody is aware of segregation at this church. The only famous people to be buried here are the daughters of Count DeGrasse. The grave markers in the cemetery has been moved but the bodies have not. They are located at 89 Hazel Street. The cemetery is 100 feet long. The oldest grave at that church was dated back all the way back to 1794. Four years ago there was only room for one more. There have been no ghost sightings or reported haunting in this cemetery.
Congregation Beth elohim
The Congregation Beth Elohim cemetery was established in 1764. This cemetery was for Jewish people only. The famous people buried at this church include 20 confederate soldiers, 10 revolutionary soldiers, and a famous poet named Penia Moise. The graves have never been moved or disturbed. They are located on Coming Street between Morris and Cannon. Their cemetery is about an acre and 750 people are buried there. The oldest grave dates back to 1762. The cemetery is not used for burials anymore and is not haunted.
