In 1859 the lighthouse was 95 feet tall.

The lighthouse went dark during the Civil War, and was rebuilt in 1875.

Today it is 150 feet tall, and has 167 steps to the top. 

It  has a 2nd - order Fresnel lens.  

The Hunting Island Light is the island's third lighthouse and is open to the public. 

This lighthouse was moved 1 and quarter miles inland.
