McColl started in 1884 with a railroad stretching from
Fayetteville to Bennettsville.
-
1 store
-
A house or two
-
1 depot
-
1 railroad
The General Store got shipments from the trains, and sold the
goods to the people of the town. Without the railroad the town of
McColl would have never existed because the General Store wouldn't
have had any goods and people wouldn't have chosen to settle
there.
There were once three mills operating day and night. Now most
people go to other towns to work.
