Mrs. Nettie Campbell

Mrs. Campbell was born on September 5, 1938. She has lived in Elgin for about 55 years. Mrs. Campbell has a great husband named Scottie and a child named "Soupy" Jacobs. She has two grandchildren which she loves very much. Their names are Campbell (6) and Caleb (2). Her parents are Kate B. and John Leslie Moak Senior and one of her siblings is Hammy (her brother) which owns Hammy's BBQ.

She said that growing up there was always a lot of family, school work, and a lot of chores to do. Monday thru Friday she went to school, Saturday her and her family cleaned house and then on Sunday they went to church and also rested.

Mrs. Campbell said that her school was a two story, brick building with high ceilings and large windows. Some of the things they would do for fun was play hopscotch and house with pi-melon dolls.

Mrs. Campbell was one of the residents that didn't like the name change since her and her family couldn't vote. She said that the Elgin Watch Company was only here for four years but used the schools gym for their training. Mrs. Campbell has worked for Blaney High, Chronicle Independent, Shakespeare, and the Town Hall. But, she is now retired and wants to enjoy her grandchildren and help others in need. Mrs. Campbell said that instead of changing something in Elgin, she would like to keep the small town atmoshere.

Some of her most fondest memories were getting married and another was going to school. To children Mrs. Campbell would like to say, respect those in charge and follow the ten commandments. To adults she would like to say the same but also to love your kids, they're God's gifts!
